Site Spotlight Lake Coniston
Our site spotlight heads north this week, up to the Lake District, another hugely popular destination for our active GlamperRV customers.
Pier Cottage is a small, family run site set on the banks of Lake Coniston. With direct lake access for the water sports enthusiast (and boats for hire), nearby walking to suit all levels of ability, biking on the doorstep in Grizedale forest and the wonderful Bluebird Cafe just a short walk along the shore for replenishing energy levels you won’t want for any more.
The Bluebird Café takes it name from Donald Campbell’s boat as this was the site from which he used to launch Bluebird for his numerous water speed records. The café was reviewed very favorably by previous GlamperRV customers who told us ‘it does fantastic cakes and particularly popular were the hot chocolate brownies’. Let’s hope they are still on the menu!
Walking appears to be one of the winners of Covid-19 and there is no better place to enjoy your new found passion than the Lake District. Old Man of Coniston is on your door step from this site and there are a few different routes up so you can make a really good walk out of it , creating a loop starting from the car park up the lane in Coniston town. You will then have breath-taking views as you work your way up one side and come down around the other. Definitely a good reason to sample those brownies😊
Another great find for GlamperRV customers was Path to Adventure, an extremely professional husband and wife team who instruct you in the skills of rock climbing and abseiling. I know we have enjoyed doing this as a family activity and it definitely provides a little more of an adrenalin fueled day than the local Go Ape.
