Trip of the month – The Netherlands

What a glorious few days we have had delivering GlamperRVs to Glastonbury and handing others over to customers making their own way.  Whilst many are regular festival goers we have the occasional newbie – their positive reaction to their first sighting of their festival home on wheels always fills us with immense pride.

It’s wonderful to have the festival season back in full swing this year.  Most of our fleet are visiting Glastonbury, the British Grand Prix, Cornbury, Latitude, Wilderness, Bestival and at the end of August the Silverstone Classic and CarFest south (not to mention the Goodwood Revival in September!)  If you are thinking about booking a GlamperRV for your 2023 events I would highly recommend you contact us as soon as you secure tickets this autumn.  With many of our fleet hired out to regular customers, availability is always limited.

Back to this summer and I know those customers with GlamperRV adventures booked are feeling very smug when they hear about the chaos at the airports.  With customers returning to mainland Europe, a new destination appears to be on the radar this summer, The Netherlands.  We’ve had both couples and families return recently full of praise for this fabulous, bike friendly country. I hope you enjoy this exert from a customer review to give you a taste.  Here you go for our trip of the month – the Netherlands.

Driving up from Calais we missed out the potentially fantastic stopovers in Belguim (Bruges, Ypres and Brussels to name a few) and somewhat wished we have stopped over to break up our journey to Rotterdam.  We did however love our first stop to unwind and view the Kinderdijk Unesco windmills.  These are truly beautiful and worth a visit in their own right.  We stayed at Landhoeve, a small campsite on a farm with fresh eggs, excellent showers and positioned a very manageable 6km cycle to the Kinderdijk Windmills.

From there we ventured to Delft on the other side of Rotterdam.  There is plenty to see around this City with highlights including a fascinating tour of the cargo ship terminal, Rotterdam Zoo and nearer the Hague, Madurodam – an excellent park with a miniature world of the Netherlands.  We would highly recommend Delftsehout Holiday Park– superb layout, great for the children and with brand new facilities.  It is a scenic 1 mile cycle into Delft and the adjoining country park and a slightly longer but easy cycle to Rotterdam Zoo and the beaches of the Hague for those feeling particularly energetic (or have hired our GoCycle folding e-bikes!)

We travelled north up the coast to view the bulb fields (stunning if you are visiting during the peak season in April).  Here we stayed just outside Noordwijk at Op Hoop Van Zegen – a smallish farm campsite within walking and cycling distance of some fabulous beaches and of course the tulips!  With the rugged dunes, woodlands, flower fields and 13 km of fantastic sandy beaches, Noordwijk was a great place to relax.

Whilst this was our most northerly point on this trip we certainly intend to do another trip to Holland to explore the north of the country.  It was such an easy place to travel and perfect for a GlamperRV adventure.

Our loop back to Calais took in two highlights, De Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park and Efteling Theme Park.  Both were well served by De Kraanvensche Berg, a very peaceful campsite owned by a friendly couple with good motorhome facilities.  From here we cycled to Efteling Theme park (3km) and into the sand dunes of the De Loonse National Park.

Overall we cycled around 100km in the week but with the flat, off-road cycle paths it all felt very easy.
