Site Spotlight – Dartmoor

Site Spotlight – Dartmoor

I simply adore these clear, cold frosty mornings. My dog walk is mud free and timings are such that I can enjoy the sunrise over the Chilterns. It really is something that keeps me smiling at this time of year.

This morning on my walk I was listening to a discussion about a legal case regarding wild camping on Dartmoor (and hence this Site Spotlight – Dartmoor). Due to a successful action brought to the high court by one of the largest landowners, wild camping is no longer legal in the Dartmoor National Park. Whilst the ruling does not affect GlamperRV users (wild camping in a campervan has never been allowed on Dartmoor), it made me think about how we all yearn for that wild open space to spend the night under the stars.

Many of you successfully find remote spots here and there. I do however urge you to consider Wild with Consent, a pioneering business that is connecting our customers with consenting landowners. Their locations allow you to park overnight, off-grid in perfect solitude.

Wild with Consent have ‘sites’ on Dartmoor and plenty more in the south west region that we know GlamperRV customers will love. Most allow dogs and also for a small additional fee multiple GlamperRVs. If you are travelling with friends these are perfect for you to create your own glamping space.

Here is just one of their locations which I can’t wait to visit. Perched on the edge of Dartmoor, Skerraton Farm is the perfect gateway to great walking, cycling and swimming. The site faces south with extensive views and is sheltered by a belt of trees. Within a few minutes walk up the farm track, you emerge onto Skerraton Down, your gate to the Dartmoor National Park.

Imagine being parked up here on a starry night with all your luxuries and loved ones. I think this is what many customers dream of when hiring a GlamperRV.

If you are travelling with children and the solitude becomes too great then bolt on a stay at the River Dart Country Park. Here you will be spoilt for choice with activities including canoeing, kayaking, zip lining and high ropes set in 90 acres of parkland within the Dartmoor National Park.

Dartmoor and the Devon coast always make for a great combination when planning a GlamperRV adventure and I hope this provides you with the inspiration to go explore in style.

We hope you have enjoyed our Site Spotlight – Dartmoor and look forward to hearing about your adventures.
