Site Spotlight – Dorset

I appreciate that lake swimming and paddle boarding may not be at the forefront of your mind at this time of year. Please however project yourself forward a few months and believe me, you will be dreaming of somewhere to cool down. Our site spotlight – Dorset this week has just the place, Litton Lakes.

Litton Lakes is a small, family owned campsite with its own activity lake where you can paddle board, kayak or simply enjoy a swim. Lakeside is the Purple Turtle Cafe, on hand to serve up a delicious selection of coffee and cakes. I’d say that’s just what you need after a SUP yoga session!

In addition to the water based onsite activities Litton Lakes is sat in the heart of a hikers and bikers paradise. It is also only 10 minutes from the stunning Jurassic coast with its magnificent coastline and beaches. This is most definitely a site for our active followers to enjoy.

A gentle cycle down to the coast will take you to the pretty coastal village of West Bexington. Located down a quiet track off of the main coastal road (hence bikes or on foot – not one for the GlamperRV!) you will find the most unspoilt beach and nature reserve. It is also home to the highly rated Clubhouse beachside restaurant, established in 1932 and renowned for its seafood and cocktails.

If you are looking to eat out closer to Litton Lakes then the White Horse Inn in Litton Cheney comes recommended. It is just a five minute stroll from the campsite so perfect for an early evening drink.

This site would make a fantastic addition to any south coast adventure, be it combined with the more lively and town based activities in Weymouth or as a stop off en route to the south west.

I look forward to hearing your feedback from this little gem of a site.

Happy planning!
