Site Spotlight – Gower Peninsula

As I sit looking out at the grey skies, I am sure I am not alone in dreaming of my travel plans for the year ahead. Whilst exact locations are yet to be confirmed I know it will involve a good dose of mountain and sea air.

Let’s start with that sea air and our first 2023 site spotlight – Gower Peninsula.

South Wales has always been a huge hit with GlamperRV customers. From exploring Cardiff in the East across to the Pembrokeshire National Park at the far end, there is so much to explore. Sitting in the middle is Britain’s first designated area of outstanding natural beauty, the Gower Peninsula. The peninsula is an ageless delight, bounded by 25 miles of incredible coastline and world renowned beaches.

Rhossili Bay Beach is probably the most stunning of these and just a short walk (200 yards) from this beach lies Hillend Camping Park. Whilst a largish site with 250 pitches, they are rustically set over 14 acres of meadow land, all with easy access to the beach. There is a vibrant feel to this family orientated site and it has been listed as one of the top 10 U.K Campsites in both ‘The Times’ and ‘The Observer’.

The proximity of the beach makes it an ideal location for all water sports enthusiasts, especially surfers as there are a number of surf schools based here.

For walkers the Wales Coastal Path runs alongside the campsite connecting with a myriad of footpaths across the Gower Peninsula.

I always like to include an alternative ‘off-grid’ overnight suggestion alongside these site spotlights and this one is a real gem. Also on the Gower Peninsula you may wish to try a pub stopover, the Oxwich Bay Hotel. For the foodies amongst you (and I know many of our customers are) then this Brit Stops hotel as well as being 100m from the Oxwich Bay beach is also on the doorstep of Hywel Griffith’s Michelin star Beach House Restaurant.
