Site Spotlight – Lake District
The captivating landscapes of the Lake District attract many GlamperRV customers every year. It is a great place to explore and with over 100 campsites to choose from, this week I am giving you a mountain and coastal combination as our site spotlight – Lake District.
If you are a regular reader then you will know that for me, exploring on foot is a great passion. Escaping the routine of daily life to be transported to some remote hillside, mountain top or beach is just pure joy. To share that experience with good friends or family is the icing on the cake.
I am planning a trip to the Lake District later in the year and a customer recommended we book a touring pitch at Gillside Camping. Located at the start of the main path from Glenridding up Helvellyn, it is perfectly placed. It is also a working farm with over 800 award winning Swaledale Ewes so I’m thinking that lambing season is a good time to go.
Any trip is always enhanced by variety of landscapes. I have therefore found a little campsite on the coast just an hour from Gillside Camping to create a bolt on to the fell experience.
Harbour Lights (pictured above) is based in the quiet fishing village of Haverigg on the magnificent Duddon Estuary. It boasts a large golden sandy beach and a host of eateries, all within walking distance of the campsite.
Haverigg has an abundance of walking trails around the local RSPB nature reserve where you can catch a glimpse of some of the UK’s rarest species of birds and orchids. If you prefer exploring on two wheels or a longer walk, then there is a flat loop around the lagoon via Hodbarrow Point lighthouse to Millom Old Pier with stunning views over the estuary, with the fells as a backdrop.
I do so love this time of year as we start to plan our trips for the year. I look forward to sharing them with you and do follow us on Instagram (@GlamperRV) for all the insights.
Happy planning!
