A West Country Adventure
I frequently get asked by customers for short GlamperRV trip ideas and so this week I am excited to share our trip – a west country adventure. That’s four #sitespotlights in one read so perhaps we should rename it the ‘weekly windfall’!
I do hope this provides some great inspiration as you plan your 2024 GlamperRV adventure. I am secreting wondering how I can sneak this trip in myself as Stonehenge and Cheddar Gorge are places I have driven passed but never stopped!
First stop is the historic site of Stonehenge where we recommend you stay at the Stonehenge Campsite, a few minutes drive to the Stonehenge Visitor Centre. A customer, who stayed here last year, recommended the Silver Hardstanding gravel pitch, located in the lower section of the campsite with a private grass area with picnic bench. Each pitch is surrounded by hedges and only reachable by a gated entrance so limited traffic and quiet. If you arrange a morning collection from our farm, then you could easily arrive here for a late lunch thus making the most of Day 1.
Your next stop is a short hop west to Cheddar Gorge. Driving through the gorge itself is spectacular and once you are parked up there are many fantastic walks to enjoy this iconic natural gem. We have had customers stay at both Petruth Paddocks and Ceddar Bridge Touring Park in Cheddar and both have fantastic reviews. The former is probably more laid back with a family focus and the later for adults so do take a look and choose accordingly. The Gorge itself boasts awe-inspiring cliffs and extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves. It is also an international centre for caving and rock climbing so plenty to keep you active.
Move from countryside to city for your next stop and a visit to Bath. A firm favourite with GlamperRV customers is the Bath Waterside Caravan Park. Located on the River Avon, the Bath Caravan Park is just two miles from the city centre which makes it ideal for a stroll or cycle along the riverside into beautiful Bath. If the exercise one way has been too much then return with the park-and-ride bus whose stop is just outside. The park is nestled amid grassy banks and shady trees on one of the most treasured stretches of the River Avon.
Your final overnight stop is the pretty Cotswold town of Cirencester. I visited the town last year and was bowled over by the beauty of the old stone buildings which ooze charm. The Cirencester Park Caravan Club Site is in a perfect, tranquil location in the historic Cirencester Park, a short walk from the town centre whose streets are filled with quirky, independent shops and restaurants. If you are blessed with fine weather and fancy watching the sport of Kings, then head over to the Cirencester Park Polo Club for some entertainment.
This west country adventure is a perfect GlamperRV taster trip, ideal for those wanting to get a feel for touring but not wanting to venture too far.
I will be back with some more ‘taster trips’ in the coming weeks so if you have any places you are keen to explore then do get in touch and I’ll do the research for you!
Happy planning!
